artist mark

Can anyone tell me when the dolls with the artist's mark were released?
I just bought a Samantha on ebay with an artist mark, but I don't think she is Sam. Her hair is very light, the color of Molly's. I think she is a today girl. This doll is gorgeous anyway, and the seller emailed me before she sent the doll and offered a refund because someone saw her auction and emailed her that it was not Sam. I decided to get her anyway. I have no remorse-I am already in love with her! But I am now wondering how old she is, because she does have the artist mark.

Here's a thread from a few weeks ago on artist marks. I don't think anyone really knows when they come from. I have both PM and M dolls that have the mark, and some PM and M dolls that don't.

I do think that the early Samantha dolls have much lighter brown hair. Is her hair curly like Sams?? Can you post a picture?Or send a link to the completed auctions. I do believe this is allowed under these circumstances since it is only to identify a doll [img]smile.gif[/img]

Yes, I agree. Post a picture/link [img]smile.gif[/img] .

My PM (96) AGT has the mark, so it's possible you have an early PM AGT doll, if you don't think she's Sam.

The easiest way to tell, if her hair hasn't been cut is that Sam's hair is layered, to make the curls more full, but the AGTs have hair that is all the same length.

My guess: PM (no body tag, and the lighter face paint) AGT (one length hair) 13 (brown hair and eyes)

I think you're right. Isn't she pretty? How couldya not love her! I am glad you think she's PM, I think so too, as she is a little chubbier than the new ones I have.

My PM Sam and my Mattel Kirsten have artist marks. I'm not sure if any of my other girls have it or not.
